The St. Simons Land Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors, effective May 1, 2026, along with its 2026–2027 officer leadership. The new board members are Bill Jones III, Will Ris, Christopher Wade, and David Wright.
This accomplished group brings a broad range of expertise in conservation, business, public policy, and community leadership—further strengthening the Land Trust’s mission to preserve the natural and scenic character of St. Simons Island.
Two of the appointees, Bill Jones III and David Wright, are returning to the board, having previously served and played important roles in advancing the organization’s work.
Bill Jones III, a Glynn County native and longtime leader with Sea Island Company, has an extensive record of environmental stewardship and public service, including leadership roles with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and numerous statewide organizations.
Will Ris, a former Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at American Airlines, offers deep expertise in federal policy and governance, along with decades of nonprofit board leadership.
Christopher Wade, a CPA and real estate development leader, contributes strong financial acumen, operational expertise, and a demonstrated commitment to community service.
David Wright, a returning board member and longtime supporter of the Land Trust, previously served two terms on the board and co-chaired the Development & Communications Committee. He remains active in numerous nonprofit organizations throughout the Golden Isles.
In addition, the Land Trust has announced its 2026–2027 officers:

The addition of these leaders reflects the Land Trust’s continued growth, as the organization advances key conservation initiatives, expands stewardship and education efforts, and works to ensure the island’s natural landscapes are preserved for generations to come.
