LIVE OAK SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP

By joining at the $1,000 level or higher, Live Oak Society members are making a strong statement about their belief in land conservation and in protecting Coastal Georgia. Over the last decade, an invaluable group of Live Oak Society members have increased their annual giving to the $10,000 level and above. These Benefactors implicitly understand the need for unrestricted funds to support programming, property acquisitions and management, education and outreach, capacity building, and all other operations of a nonprofit organization. If you are interested in more information about the Live Oak Society Benefactor giving level, please contact Emily Ellison at (912) 638-9109 or [email protected].

Live Oak Society Membership Benefits include:

  • E-newsletters and other communications throughout the year
  • Special member rate, discounted tickets to the annual Oyster Roast
  • Invitation to the annual Live Oak Society Reception and other events

RECURRING GIFT PAYMENTS

A growing number of Land Trust members have signed up for automatically recurring gift payments. These payments can be made on a monthly, quarterly, or annually recurring basis and provide a reliable stream of support to the Land Trust while also cutting down on renewal reminders. Simply choose the “Monthly” or “Annually” option in the donation portal linked below.

GIFTS OF STOCK

Gifts of appreciated stock are an easy and beneficial way to contribute to the St. Simons Land Trust. You receive credit for the full market value of the gift, and you avoid capital-gains tax on that stock. In ensure that we receive and properly acknowledge your stock gift, please take the following steps:

  • Ask your stockbroker or brokerage firm to make a direct electronic transfer of the stock certificates to the St. Simons Land Trust account. Please call Emily Ellison at (912) 638-9109 for account information.
  • Please notify us as soon as your transfer instructions have been given to your broker and provide us with the name of the security or securities being transferred, the number of shares to be donated, and the name and phone number of your broker. This is an important step because your brokerage firm may not notify the Land Trust and our broker may not know the originating source of the contribution. Without this information, we will be unable to properly acknowledge your gift.

CORPORATE MATCHING

Many Land Trust supporters choose to participate in their company’s corporate matching program, which can sometimes double or even triple the size of your donation. Be sure to check with your employer to see if the company provides dollar-for-dollar contribution matches for employees or provides matches based on volunteer hours donated to the community.
