A Record-Breaking Evening at the 2026 Oyster Roast

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 4:30–7:30pm, more than 1,500 friends and supporters gathered beneath the oaks at Gascoigne Bluff Park for the St. Simons Land Trust’s annual Oyster Roast — making this our largest Oyster Roast ever.

With a warm coastal breeze, a glowing sunset over the Frederica River, and the sounds of Michael Hulett and The Cassette Sets filling the air, the evening was one to remember.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT.

The Oyster Roast has always been a celebration of community, and this year was no exception.

  • 90+ dedicated volunteers helped make the event run smoothly.

  • 40+ restaurant and service partners generously provided incredible food, drink, and support.

  • A record-breaking amount of funds was raised to directly support the Land Trust’s mission of protecting and preserving environmentally and culturally significant land on St. Simons.

From check-in to last call, the event reflected the deep commitment this community has to conservation.

The Oyster Roast wouldn’t be what it is without the remarkable partners who have supported it for 25+ years including:

  • Jim and Barbara Barta of Barbara Jean’s Restaurant & Bar

  • Charlie Williams and his team from Crabdaddy’s Seafood Grill

Their longstanding commitment — along with many other loyal restaurant partners — is a testament to how deeply rooted this event is in the St. Simons community.

CONSERVATION IN ACTION.

This year’s event wasn’t just record-breaking — it was impactful.

Thanks to our partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division, 2,600 pounds of oyster shells were collected and recycled through their Oyster Recycling Program. These shells will be used to help restore coastal oyster reefs, supporting marine habitats and protecting our shoreline.

It’s a powerful example of how celebration and conservation go hand in hand.

The 2026 Oyster Roast was our most successful yet — in attendance, funds raised, and community spirit. Most importantly, the proceeds will go directly toward protecting the special places that make St. Simons extraordinary.

We are deeply grateful to every volunteer, partner, sponsor, and attendee who made the evening possible.

Mark your calendars now — we can’t wait to gather again for the

2027 OYSTER ROAST on FEBRUARY 20, 2027.
