In less than a week, the Golden Isles community matched and greatly exceeded a generous $25,000 matching challenge offered to the Land Trust by Golden Isles Fund for Trees (GIFT) to help protect the beautiful live oak trees at 2404 Frederica Road.
Donors contributed more than $50,000. This means that with the GIFT challenge, more than $75,000 have been secured to help the Land Trust acquire the property’s front lot and protect and maintain these majestic trees in perpetuity.
We are thrilled and grateful that “Old Ironsides” and the other specimen live oaks at 2404 Frederica Road will continue to be part of the island’s canopy and can be enjoyed by everyone who walks, bikes, or drives down the Frederica Greenway.
